Man is Psylocke back in Limbo again?

I hope she ends up the leader of this iteration of Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. That would be awesome and add an interesting layer to her character

I don't know... I think Betsy deserves better followers than Masque, Pyro and Avalanche (by the way, weren't Pyro and Avalanche dead?). Plus, it would be weird for her to leave the X-Men due to Magneto's actions, then recreate a group of criminal mutants whose actions are usually worse than Magneto's.

Psylocke's future is uncertain for now. Maybe if Marvel plans to launch a book featuring a team of British superheroes (like Excalibur, or Captain Britain and MI-13), she could join it for a while, until the X-rosters are changed again (which will probably happen in a year or so, anyway).

Agreed, FSaker. Her joining anything labeled "Evil" just doesn't make any sense, especially how she and Magneto don't see eye to eye. I think she's going to leave the X-Men out of frustration and disappointment. On a side note, glimpsing over these previews bores me to tears already... they look like a total, dismissible mess. I see no resolution from any of the ongoing plot-lines... just out-of-the-blue conflicts created so they can force a bunch of books out.

I agree the new books do look really boring and like they're not coming from and organic place in relation to where they are now. I have to say though i still like the idea of Psylocke as part of the Brotherhood. This would give a good writer a lot to play with AND we don't know how much time will have passed when the new books start. I also wouldn't mind her joining the Uncanny Avengers either. Anything but limbo imo

Gaile and Melly,

You all mean to tell me that you aren't so very excited for the unveiling of "Prestige????" 😂😂😂😂😊

LOL @Rahsaan, I was kinda scratching my head knowing Rachael taking on that name. But we gotta have our girl Betsy somewhere it sucks knowing she had some many moments in the last 2, 3, 4 years!!!!

LOL @Rahsaan

I just don't even know what to say about that. Was anyone asking for a Rachel Summers return??? Not I! haha I wonder how they'll explain the codename change though

The problem of Psylocke joining the Brotherhood, besides what was mentioned before, is that the Brotherhood incarnations NEVER last long: they usually appear for one or two issues (one story arc, at best), then return to editorial limbo. Poor Magma is already unfortunate enough to have this fate (unless the Generation X writer brings her there afterwards), so I hope to see Betsy out of it.

I think no one here wants to see her going to limbo, but Marvel is still announcing new books (Ms. America just got her solo book announced, for instance), so she may be part of another book and it just wasn't revealed yet. We'll only know for sure after IvX is over.

(and yes, while I do like Rachel, it's weird that Marvel would choose her for X-Men Gold over much better known X-Men - not just Psylocke, but also Archangel, Gambit, Emma Frost... I'd say even Hope Summers may be better known that her nowadays. Plus, her new uniform and her codename are both terrible! She should have stuck with that cool red longcoat she was wearing not long ago...)

Antone, Melly and F,

Don't get me wrong. I actually like Rachel. And I thank god she got rid of that horrid red and yellow 90s trench coat outfit!! This cape though is whack! Also, glad to see the hound marks gone!

As for "Prestige," I read an interview with the writer a couple of months back where he said he was tired of Rachel always being in Jean's shadow, including her list of code names, so he wanted something new and original for her. My thought on this... Why not just go by Rachel? In general, I find codenames pretty silly and at this point, everyone knows the X-Men's true identities, so I prefer when people, like Kitty and Jean drop their code names.

Also, if they want to differentiate Rachel drom
her mother, how about showcasing her primary mutation? Specifically, her chronoskimming ability and her unique psychic engagement with time space versus solely focusing on her telepathy/telekinesis combination which is directly reminiscent of her mother's?

"Prestige" sounds like a mid-size sedan model. If she was going to insist on having a code name, I'd have prefered something more aligned with her actual mutant abilities.

Rahsaan said...

Shit. I'd actually settle for her going back to R'Chel over Prestige.
